It feels a bit odd, rereading this. I mean, yeah I know what happened, I wrote it. But it’s also shocking to see just how much has changed.
When I started writing, I had planned for Aria, Breeze and co. to be mercenaries, can you believe that? Mercenaries. And the moment I decided that Breeze was a princess… I think it was the moment she started reading Ryan’s binder, halfway through Chapter 6. I mean, the entire storyline after Chapter 6 revolves around Ryan becoming a part of Aethon, the kingdom. And for the first 5 chapters that was never going to happen.
It makes me wonder, just how much else has changed from its originally intended purposes? What characters had sudden shifts in personality that I don’t realize? What other plot points changed? Were there always going to be werewolves in my original plan? Magic? How would the story have gone if it remained to have its mercenary aspect?
And it’s not only the plot that changed drastically, but my actual writing ability grew so much from the beginning to the most recent chapters… I almost feel like it was an entirely different author writing the words “Have you ever felt your words come alive?” A lot of what I had written is so awkward and forced, there are so many tangential lines and scenes that have no purpose being in the story… was I always that scatterbrained?
Despite all that, though, I’m really enjoying rereading the story. I love the characters and the world it takes place in, and I can’t wait to finish reading so I can start writing again!
First Update about Content
As a quick little note, I’ll be spending tomorrow finishing my rereading and then collecting all of the non-typed material from the AF universe that I’ve made over the years. I’ll scan that onto my computer, and upload them by tomorrow night, so stay tuned for more!
